Tilton School seeks a full-time nurse to join our Health Services team for the 2026-2027 school year. This faculty-level role is central to our mission to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students on campus.
Position Summary
The Nurse provides day-to-day and preventative healthcare for students, following established procedures under the direction of the Director of Health Services. The role supports students’ overall well-being so they can fully participate in school life, including academics and athletics. The Nurse is actively involved in student health across multiple areas, including medical care, physical and mental health, wellness education, hygiene, first aid, emergency response, and administering medications.
Key Responsibilities
Reports To: Director of Health Services
Provide routine and urgent healthcare to students, including assessment, treatment, and follow-up care. Work directly with students and families when appropriate regarding health concerns
Monitor and support students’ physical, mental, and emotional health, referring to outside providers when appropriate, arranging medical transportation as needed
Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate care with emergency services when necessary
Coverage of the health center during assigned hours, including evenings, weekends, and as needed
Administer medications and maintain accurate medication records in accordance with school policies and state regulations. Communicate with parents and providers about changes and refill needs as appropriate.
Maintain the student health records system in accordance with school and state record retention policies, student/patient data privacy requirements, and FERPA/HIPPA
Assist with collection and updating of all student health records, including immunizations, medical histories, and care plans (including during the summer**)
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, faculty, and administrators regarding student health concerns (while maintaining confidentiality)
Assist Director with third party billings for students insurance when required
Assist Director with maintaining clinic equipment and inventory of medical supplies to ensure the health center is properly stocked and organized
Assist Director with identifying health and safety concerns across campus and providing health education to students, staff and parents
Ensure compliance with school policies, state regulations, and best practices in school health services
Maintain infection control practices and help manage communicable illnesses within the residential community
Collaborate with administration and residential life staff to support student well-being in dorm settings
Administer immunizations in compliance with state requirements and school protocols or policies, and maintain proper documentation
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required
Current Registered Nursing License in State of NH
Current BLS certification
Experience: 3–5 years of nursing experience, ideally within a school setting
Clear criminal background checks from either the NH Department of Safety
A valid Drivers’ License with clean driving record
