First Baptist Academy, serving students from infants through eighth grade, is seeking a physical education teacher to support the development of foundational physical skills and healthy habits in students. This teacher will play a key role in helping students build coordination, confidence, teamwork, and a positive attitude toward physical activity through engaging and age-appropriate instruction. FBA teachers exemplify characteristics of professional excellence in alignment with the school’s vision, mission, core values, and strategic goals. This position reports to the athletic director.
This position also includes coaching middle school sports as needed per season. Girls sports include cross country, volleyball, cheer, basketball, soccer, swimming, track and field and golf. Boys sports include cross country, football, basketball, soccer, swimming, track and field and golf.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Creative Empowerment – Create a safe and engaging learning environment that promotes movement confidence, teamwork and character growth through physical education.
Design and implement developmentally appropriate PE curriculum that builds motor skills, fitness and game understanding
Teach and model fundamental movement skills and promote lifelong physical activity
Develop and implement lessons that enhance foundational movement skills (locomotor, non-locomotor, object control)
Design activities that build coordination, agility, sportsmanship and confidence across all grade levels
Encourage lifelong physical activity through fitness education and positive reinforcement
Comprehensive Personalization – Provide diverse learning opportunities tailored to students’ age, skill level and developmental needs.
Use assessment and observation to provide differentiated instruction for varying ability levels
Utilize data to track student growth and adjust instruction accordingly
Integrate technology when appropriate (e.g. movement analysis, student self-assessment)
Promote sportsmanship, teamwork and Christlike character as integral parts of PE lessons
Collective Collaboration – Engage in team efforts with fellow coaches, teachers and school leaders to strengthen the Physical Education and Athletics programs.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student learning and wellness
Work with the Athletics Department to align lessons with athletic development goals
Communicate student progress with parents, teachers and administration
Participate in faculty meetings and school-wide initiatives
Supportive Guidance – Encourage students to recognize their physical gifts and use them to serve others and glorify God.
Foster a positive environment that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork and character development
Model Christ-centered leadership on and off the field
Coach middle school athletic teams as needed
Ensure student safety through active supervision, proper equipment use and enforcement of safety protocols
Engage actively in student life and school community
Continuous Professional Growth – Pursue ongoing development in physical education, coaching and instructional best practices.
Stay current on PE trends, athletic conditioning techniques and instructional strategies
Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance and grades
Adhere to the Faculty and Staff Handbook
Pursue professional development opportunities in physical education and coaching

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Motor Learning or related field
TEA Certification in Physical Education EC–8
Strong understanding of age-appropriate motor development and skill progression
Effective classroom and behavior management grounded in encouragement and engagement
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, families and staff
Commitment to integrating faith into teaching and coaching practices
CDL preferred or willingness to obtain
Coaching experience in middle school athletics preferred
