Kent Place School is seeking a school counselor for students in grades 9-12 to fill a full-time position beginning at the start of the 2022-2023 academic year.
The primary responsibility of the school counselor is to address the socio-emotional and behavioral needs of students; this includes providing supportive counseling, assessment and crisis intervention, making referrals, and consulting with parents, faculty and outside mental health providers.
Candidates should be collaborative, expecting to work with all constituencies, including deans, learning support coordinator, nurse and faculty to address psychosocial, behavioral and co-morbid medical and learning issues.
Requirements: Candidates should have experience working with adolescent girls and families and navigating systems, a strong clinical foundation, assessment and advocacy skills, and a crisis intervention background. Active NJLCSW or LSW, and/or State of NJ Certificate as School Social Worker is required. Graduate-level Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counseling or another related field are recommended.
