Position Summary: The Diabetes Educator is responsible for the coordination and/or provision of all Diabetes education, to the patients, families, and significant others, consistent with the established policies and procedures provided at MultiCare Medical Center. This position works independently, under very limited supervision. This position oversees all components of a particular area of expertise (i.e. insulin pump services, comprehensive, etc.) Work situations require organization, prioritization, analysis of workflow, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills in working with staff, physicians, and families. Extensive internal and external contacts include family members, significant others, staff, physicians, community agencies, school nurses, other educators, hospitals, clinics, and managed care agencies.
Minimum Requirements: One year experience in program development preferred
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Masters Degree in Nursing PhD in Nursing, DNP, or ARNP preferred Licensed in the State of Washington as a Registered Nurse Certification as a Diabetes Educator Current BLS for Healthcare Providers
