The Health, Human Services and Public Policy (HHSPP) Department is home to the Collaborative Health and Human Services (CHHS) Bachelor of Science degree program. CHHS is an interdisciplinary degree with concentrations in public administration, public health and/or social work. The Department offers five minor degree programs: Community Health Education, Environmental Health Policy, International Health Policy, Nonprofit Management, and Social Work.

The mission of the HHSPP is to educate future health and human services professionals, in order to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities. We accomplish this through innovative pedagogy, interdisciplinary applied research, and engaged scholarship. Driven by a commitment to equity, social justice, and ethical practice, we work collaboratively with community-based organizations and public agencies to support students in becoming effective leaders of social change.

We are seeking an outstanding teacher/mentor/scholar who is a creative thinker and who demonstrates a commitment to: departmental growth, interprofessional/interdisciplinary education, cultural humility, and serving a diverse student population.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teaching undergraduate courses in the Collaborative Health and Human Services program
• Employing innovative teaching and learning techniques that engage students in the use of technology, hands-on experience, and problem solving through in-person, hybrid, online and community-based learning experiences
• Developing relationships with local and regional community leaders in the public and non-profit sectors for applied research projects
• Developing and maintaining research, scholarly, and creative activities leading to the dissemination of knowledge
• Participating in service to the department, college, university, and community, including curriculum assessment, strategic planning, and the development of new programs (e.g., the planned Masters of Public Health program)
• Collaborating with department colleagues in the evolution of an interdisciplinary undergraduate health and human services curriculum

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Doctoral degree in health education and promotion, public health, or related field from an accredited university by time of appointment
• Evidence of (or potential for) effective teaching in health education, health promotion program planning, program evaluation, and/or research methods
• Evidence of an applied research agenda and publication/presentation record
• Demonstrated ability to work with and mentor ethnically and culturally diverse students
• Demonstrated commitment to social equity/change

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bilingual (Spanish-English)
• Experience developing and teaching online and hybrid courses
• Experience working with historically excluded and/or low-income communities
• Professional and leadership experience in the public health and/or nonprofit public health and/or healthcare sectors
• Preferred areas of expertise include: health equity, quantitative and/or qualitative analysis, research methods, intersection between public health and social services, or health and social policy
• Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)
• Interdisciplinary collaborations (e.g., grants, projects, training programs) with public administration and public health disciplines
• Experience with community-based participatory research methods
• Commitment to providing interprofessional educational opportunities
