Annie Wright Schools are seeking a School Nurse for their Residential Program to begin August 15. This is a faculty position, with Winter, Spring and Summer Breaks off.Core hours are 10:00 am - 6:00 pm M - F plus availability for occasional after-hours and weekend phone calls for questions and consultation.

Position description
The Residential Program School Nurse is primarily responsible for overseeing health services for residential students in grades 9 through 12. The Residential Program School Nurse acts as advocate, liaison, and consultant on health related issues for students, families and school personnel. They are an integral part of the Schools’ program in supporting an optimum physical, mental, emotional and social climate for all students and staff. The Residential Program School Nurse understands the unique challenges of a boarding community and is excited to partner with the residential staff, All-School Nurse and the Dorm Counselor, as well as Day school peers, in building strong health support for US students.
Primarily based to support the residential program, the Residential Program School Nurse will also collaborate with the All School Nurse to support Day school student needs and provide medical coverage from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm for after school activities.
Additionally, the Residential Program School Nurse is a key member of the residential staff and, as such, should be available occasionally and as needed during evenings and weekends on a consulting basis.
Position overview: duties & responsibilities
The Residential Program School Nurse:
Works in partnership with the All School Nurse to protect and maintain student health by providing professional nursing services in accordance with Nursing Standards and WA licensing;
Works with Dorm Parents to ensure a healthy environment for residential students;
Works closely with the counseling team to find resources for students with mental health needs;
Arranges medical and dental appointments for residential students.
Works with Health Insurance to ensure claims are completed.
Monitors WA State-mandated immunization and communicable disease control requirements;
Identifies and assesses student’s health needs, implementing services, and evaluating plans of care which impact student learning and achievement or safety;
Participates in health education indirectly as a resource person to staff for the improvement of health in the dorms;
Acts as liaison between home, school, and community providers for medical issues, including calling parents as necessary;
Identifies and reports school building safety or environmental issues which impact student or staff health to the building administrator;
Provides First Aid as needed;
Maintains current pertinent health data for each residential student by periodic review and documentation on the individual student electronic and paper health records, and conveying this information as needed;
Conducts health screenings, engages in health promotion and wellness education as well as other routine health checks;
Maintains a secure and monitored storage system for resident students’ prescription medication and non-prescription drugs;
Administers prescription drugs to resident students, and maintains a secure record of administration of all drugs, prescription and non-prescription;
Other duties as assigned.
Salary & benefits
This is a full-time position for the school year and pays a salary range of $62,000.00 to $66,000.00. Benefits available to the hired candidate for the Residential Program School Nurse position include the following, subject to the terms of the applicable benefit plan:

Qualifications
The Residential Program School Nurse will demonstrate key elements of the listed expertise and experiences. This is an aspirational list and Annie Wright Schools encourages candidates to apply who may not currently possess, but are working on building, all of these qualities. The Residential Program School Nurse:
Holds a BSN or Registered Nurse degree, qualified to practice in the State of Washington;
Has a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
Has experience working or dealing with the public and/or school age children in a health services environment;
Current certification in CPR/Basic life support
Proficiency in general technology use ( eg, Google Suite, Outlook), with a willingness to learn health related databases specific to the role.
Possesses excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, demonstrate adaptability, problem solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks;
Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of health information in accordance with professional standards
Practices cultural humility in personal interactions;
Satisfactorily completes a background check;
