THE OPPORTUNITY:
For over 40 years, Crowden has been transforming lives through music and education. We are seeking a passionate Physical Education teacher to continue our established PE program that complements our chamber music inspired educational environment for students in kindergarten through 8th grade.
This teacher will join a vibrant community of students, teachers, and musicians who believe in the power of well-rounded education to shape young minds and build inclusive communities. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the PE teacher, you will:
Implement and enhance our comprehensive K-8 physical education curriculum
Create engaging, developmentally appropriate PE activities that build physical literacy
Adapt activities for available outdoor spaces
Assess student growth in physical skills, coordination, and social development
Build strong relationships with families through regular communication
Actively participate in Crowden's dynamic learning community through faculty collaboration and professional development
Contribute to creating an inclusive environment that welcomes diverse perspectives and experiences
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelor's degree
Teaching credential or equivalent experience
Minimum 3 years experience teaching physical education or equivalent
Demonstrated commitment to developmental and movement-based learning
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Ability to create inclusive physical activities for students of all abilities
Enthusiasm for working in an music-focused educational environment
Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning community
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field
Experience in program development or curriculum design
Background in comprehensive physical education programming
Experience with diverse physical education activities suitable for K-8 students
