The Opportunity:
Nansemond-Suffolk Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Physical Education Instructor to join our Upper School faculty. This individual will play a key role in fostering students’ physical well-being, athletic development, and overall fitness through dynamic and engaging instruction.
What you’ll do:
Develop and implement a comprehensive PE, strength training, and health education curriculum that promotes lifelong wellness.
Design and lead engaging lessons focused on physical conditioning, sports skills, and overall fitness.
Instruct students in a variety of activities, including team sports, individual fitness programs, and strength training.
Teach students the importance of proper nutrition, mental well-being, and healthy lifestyle choices.
Emphasize character development, teamwork, and leadership through physical education.
Foster an environment that promotes discipline, sportsmanship, and goal-setting.
Monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback for growth and improvement.
Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate wellness initiatives into the broader school community.
Uphold the values and mission of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy while serving as a positive role model.
What you bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field
Teaching experience at the high school level is highly desirable.
Expertise in strength training, fitness programming, health education, and athletic development.
Ability to motivate and inspire students of all athletic abilities.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Passion for teaching, coaching, and mentoring young student-athletes.
Certification in CPR, First Aid, and other relevant safety protocols is a plus.
