The Opportunity:

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Physical Education Instructor to join our Upper School faculty. This individual will play a key role in fostering students’ physical well-being, athletic development, and overall fitness through dynamic and engaging instruction.

What you’ll do:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive PE, strength training, and health education curriculum that promotes lifelong wellness.
  
  
• Design and lead engaging lessons focused on physical conditioning, sports skills, and overall fitness.
  
  
• Instruct students in a variety of activities, including team sports, individual fitness programs, and strength training.
  
  
• Teach students the importance of proper nutrition, mental well-being, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  
  
• Emphasize character development, teamwork, and leadership through physical education.
  
  
• Foster an environment that promotes discipline, sportsmanship, and goal-setting.
  
  
• Monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback for growth and improvement.
  
  
• Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate wellness initiatives into the broader school community.

What you bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field
  
  
• Teaching experience at the high school level is highly desirable.
  
  
• Expertise in strength training, fitness programming, health education, and athletic development.
  
  
• Ability to motivate and inspire students of all athletic abilities.
  
  
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  
  
• Passion for teaching, coaching, and mentoring young student-athletes.
  
  
• Certification in CPR, First Aid, and other relevant safety protocols is a plus.
