First Baptist Academy, serving students Infants through Eighth Grade, is seeking a Physical Education Teacher with a strong emphasis on motor learning and skill development. This teacher will play a key role in helping students develop fundamental movement skills, coordination and athletic abilities while instilling a lifelong appreciation for physical activity, character formation and active play. FBA teachers exemplify specific characteristics of professional excellence to support FBA’s vision, mission, core values and strategic goals. This position reports to the Athletic Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Creative Empowerment – Create a safe and engaging learning environment that promotes movement confidence, teamwork and character growth through physical education.
Develop and implement motor learning-based lessons that enhance students’ foundational movement skills (locomotor, non-locomotor, object control).
Use evidence-based strategies including differentiated instruction, skill progressions and cognitive-motor integration.
Design activities that build coordination, agility, sportsmanship and confidence across all grade levels.
Encourage lifelong physical activity through fitness education and positive reinforcement.
Provide corrective feedback and modifications to ensure inclusive participation.
Comprehensive Personalization – Offer diverse learning opportunities tailored to students’ age, skill level and developmental needs.
Utilize assessment data to track student growth and adjust instruction accordingly.
Integrate technology (e.g. movement analysis, student self-assessments) when appropriate.
Promote sportsmanship, teamwork and Christlike character as integral parts of PE lessons.
Collective Collaboration – Engage in team efforts with fellow coaches, teachers and school leaders to strengthen the Physical Education and Athletics programs.
Work with the Athletics Department to align lessons with athletic development goals.
Collaborate across departments to nurture the whole child—mind, body and spirit.
Participate in faculty meetings, PD opportunities and cross-divisional initiatives.
Supportive Guidance – Encourage students to recognize their physical gifts and use them to serve others and glorify God.
Model Christ-centered leadership on and off the field.
Serve as a coach for Middle School athletic teams and support extra-curricular activities.
Be present, attentive and encouraging during school events, chapel and student life activities.
Continuous Professional Growth – Pursue ongoing development in coaching, motor learning, sports performance and instructional best practices.
Stay current on PE trends, athletic conditioning techniques and tech integration tools.
Attend professional workshops and contribute to the evolution of FBA’s Physical Education experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Motor Learning or related field.
TEA Certification in Physical Education EC–8.
Strong understanding of age-appropriate motor development and skill progression.
Effective classroom and behavior management grounded in encouragement and student engagement.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, families and staff.
Commitment to integrating faith into teaching and coaching practices.
Willingness to obtain CDL for team or event transportation (preferred).
Minimum two years of PE teaching experience preferred; coaching experience in middle school athletics strongly valued.
