AES seeks a collaborative middle school counselor responsible for supporting the social and emotional development of students in Grades six to Grade eight. The Counselor will collaborate with the Middle School Leadership to carry out effective practices to ensure the social and emotional well-being of AES students, staff, and families, which will include but not be limited to SEL instruction, parent and staff education, the admissions process, Child Study Team meetings, and small group/individual counseling.
Attributes, Qualifications and Experience:
Undergraduate Degree (BA/BS) is required
a Master’s degree will be an advantage
A minimum of three years of counseling experience
Current and relevant license/certification
Appropriate understanding and implementation of Child Safeguarding practices
Relevant experience in direct classroom instruction relating to Child Safeguarding
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build positive relationships with all stakeholders
Experience in providing proactive counseling and interventions to support child wellbeing
Ability to participate in and establish collaborative structures
Strong organizational skills that ensure time responses and appropriate documentation
Confident in implementing a developmentally appropriate counseling program
