Job Overview
HES provides crisis intervention and prevention programming on sexual assault and interpersonal violence at Georgetown University.
The Interpersonal Violence Program Coordinator/Graduate Assistant - in a part-time role - works with HES professionals, other Georgetown University staff, and student workers to develop, implement, promote, and facilitate the University's 2023 Bringing in the Bystander (BITB) - a comprehensive 2-hour training on sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, consent and bystander intervention. The interactive training is provided to all first year and incoming transfer undergraduate students.
They also work on other interpersonal violence programs and trainings.
Work Interactions
Reporting to the Interpersonal Violence Training and Education Specialist, the Program Coordinator/Graduate Assistant works closely with other staff in HES on various health and wellness initiatives (Health Hut, Social Media, Sexual Assault Awareness Month).
As well, they interact directly with BITB student facilitators students during the course of the program to provide training and support.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and currently pursuing a Master's degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Education, Global Health, Communications, Healthcare Administration, or a related field or Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Health Studies, or a related field or a recent Bachelor's degree and extensive experience and interest in interpersonal violence and program planning on college campuses
Experience developing, implementing, and assessing health promotion programs and/or health communication materials
Engaging self-starter with experience in mentoring and leadership
Sensitivity to working in a clinician-based office that requires confidentiality and compassion
High level of organizational and administrative skills
Attention to detail
Good written, oral, verbal communication skills
Team player willing to work collaboratively within the office and with off-campus partners
Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
Preferred qualifications
A passion for interpersonal violence prevention and education
Dependability and ability to take initiative and to work and communicate well with groups
Experience with diverse socio-economic, racial/ethnic, international, and LGBTQ populations, including knowledge and understanding of intersectional approaches to prevention efforts
