Job Summary

The School Nurse at Edmund Burke School provides health services to students, and works in coordination with members of the administration to ensure a healthy school climate and to minimize absence due to illness. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Treat students when present, and respond to calls for consultation regarding emergencies during school hours
• Obtain and administer care plans for students with ongoing conditions
• Provide timely parent communication related to school medical forms and student health related concerns, and provide all school communications related to health concerns
• Administer medication
• Consult with teachers and school administrators regarding student care and medical leaves
• Pack care plan information, EpiPens, inhalers and any other prescribed medication for students any time they leave campus for school trips
• Reviews all current health plans, discuss students, check logs, and remove any expired medication

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

• 3 years of experience preferred
• Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in D.C.
• AED/CPR/First Aid certified

• Ability to assess situations and act quickly
• Ability to multitask
• Familiarity with working with adolescents
