Job Purposes::
To raise private gifts from alumni and friends in support of university and college fundraising priorities. To build long-term relationships with donors and prospects on behalf of the university and college. To solicit gifts of at least $25k and ranging up to six- and seven-figure gifts to support scholarships, endowment, capital, programmatic objectives, and discretionary funding. To work with the dean on strategic funding priorities. To manage 200 assigned prospects, conduct 150 visits/year and submit 20 proposals annually. To steward CHEH current donors.
Required Qualifications::
Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of related experience.
Documentable success in business, higher education, or sales environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices associated with fundraising or business development.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational skills & attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to handle complex and confidential information.
Highly motivated to make contacts resulting in multiple personal visits each week.
Ability to think strategically and translate that thinking into targeted goals and actions.
Ability to ask for and close major gifts.
Demonstrated skill in making fundraising or sales calls and business presentations.
Preferred Qualifications::
Advanced degree or continuing education completed.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
50% Manage a portfolio currently containing 284 managed major gift prospects and donors capable of making gifts of $25k and ranging up to six and seven-figure gifts. Cultivate donor-centric relationships that result in submitting 20 or more proposals annually. Establish and meet an annual revenue goal to be determined based on strategic plans and to meet face-to-face with donors (15 visits per month). Manage all facets of individual giving including discovery visits, strategy development, solicitation, relationship management, reporting, and stewardship.
Working Conditions::
Will require regular local, regional, and/or national travel. Availability for evening and weekend activities. Will need to work collaboratively with multiple development professionals.
