The Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership is a 9-month tenure track faculty position requiring work in research, teaching, and service. The position requires a sustained record of scholarly production that is characteristic of research-intensive land-grant institutions; impactful teaching in the area of educational leadership; and service that promotes the well-being of the program, department, college, university, and profession. Finally, through the areas of research, teaching, and service; this position requires the eventual development of a nationally identified scholar who has made significant contributions to the field.
This faculty position is part of a cluster hire in the signature research area of ‘healthy schools’ in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas. Schools are vital anchors for the well-being of every community. Educators have been increasingly focused on the impact of physical, behavioral, and mental health on the educational and cognitive outcomes of children. Similarly, healthcare professionals have actively emphasized the need for early education and interventions to promote positive health outcomes. The College of Education and Health Professions is uniquely poised to promote research and collaboration across its education and health programs to maximize learning and health in schools. To this end, the College is seeking outstanding candidates for tenure-track faculty positions who are committed to advancing research in the signature research area of ‘healthy schools.’ Building on existing faculty strengths, the new faculty hired as part of the ‘healthy schools’ cluster will engage in collaborative research aimed at improving education and health outcomes of children and youth.
The Educational Leadership Program of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas seeks a dynamic, innovative, and enthusiastic colleague who is committed to the improvement of school health and wellness within the field of educational leadership. As such, we seek a colleague who centers issues related to school health and wellness within their teaching, research, and service endeavors. More specifically, we seek a colleague with an active and/or emerging research agenda focused on healthy schools and/or related topics (e.g., student mental health, school safety, educator well-being) within educational leadership. This includes presenting and publishing on health-related issues in schools and pursuing external funding to improve the health, safety, and/or well-being of school communities. Furthermore, we seek a colleague who will promote school health and wellness within their teaching responsibilities. The Educational Leadership program currently offers three online degree programs (master’s, specialist, and doctorate); thus, we seek a candidate who can innovatively promote school health and wellness within an online learning environment and prepare students to improve the health and wellness of their school communities. In addition to engaging in research and teaching at the intersection of educational leadership and school health and wellness, we seek a colleague who will: collaborate with current faculty in the design and implementation of curriculum; serve on and chair dissertation committees; participate in program administration including program recruitment, admissions, and assessment; engage in service activities in the department, university, and profession; work with colleagues to build and sustain partnerships with schools and districts throughout the state of Arkansas; and collaborate with colleagues to improve the health and well-being of students, families, educators, schools, and communities in Arkansas and beyond.

Minimum Qualifications:
Earned doctorate degree in educational leadership or related field conferred by the start of employment
Demonstrated research expertise and record focused on healthy schools and/or related topics (e.g., student health and wellness, school safety, educator well-being) within the field of educational leadership
Evidence of exemplary performance and promise of success in research/scholarly activity
Preferred Qualifications:?
School administrator experience at the building or system level
Experience with teaching at the college/university level
Experience and ability to teach in online environments
The ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
The ability to form and sustain positive professional relations with the public school community
Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills with an emphasis on mentoring and coaching
Evidence reflecting skills in effective writing (e.g., grant writing, professional or academic publications)
Specialized training in health and/or wellness-related areas
Experience working with other professionals to improve school health and wellness
Experience soliciting external funds and/or working on externally-funded projects to promote school health and wellness
Evidence of interdisciplinary research bridging education and health fields
