Hannah Senesh Community Day School, a vibrant and inclusive, independent K-8 Jewish community in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, is hiring a School Nurse for an immediate start date.
Work days follow the school calendar with the hours: 8:00am-4:00pm Mon-Thurs and 8:00am-2:30pm Fri. The School Nurse (RN) is a critical part of the health and safety of the Hannah Senesh Community Day School; working to ensure the optimum health and safety of students by monitoring health and illness in the community, performing nursing assessment, and providing care. Salary range is $70,000- $75,000 commensurate with experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
Collect, update, and maintain accurate health information on students, faculty, and staff.
Maintain legal written records of all nursing assessments and medication administration.
Review and closely examine medical documentation collection practices of student and staff data to ensure compliance with New York City and State health departments which include but are not limited to: public health, communicable diseases, immunizations.
Monitor and provide care for any chronic or acute student illnesses.
Provide first aid to students, employees, parents, and guests as needed. Refer to clinics or hospitals as required.
Ensure emergency and daily medication is properly authorized, stored and dispensed.
Oversee COVID-19 control protocols, as required.
Serves as main liaison between school personnel, family, and community healthcare providers.
Work collaboratively with the New York Department of Health when there are suspected or confirmed cases of communicable diseases.
Coordinate the acquisition of medical supplies and materials.
Collaborate with leadership, faculty, and staff on creating school-wide protocols that prevent, minimize, and control communicable diseases.
Consult with leadership on communication to various constituents about essential forms, health concerns, safety protocols, and expectations.
Attend team meetings as needed and attend to other duties as assigned.
Professional Requirements and Qualifications
Registered Professional Nurse licensed in the State of New York (required)
Bachelor of Science degree with two years of relevant professional experience (required)
CPR/AED and First Aid certification (required)
Exceptional social emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
Experience as a school, pediatric, and/or public health nurses
Thorough knowledge of current health issues as they relate to school-age children
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Computer literate, particularly with medical databases and reporting
Ability to communicate calmly and efficiently with parents, guardians, and staff regarding health-related issues
Proficient research skills and ability to keep up with current best practices
Physical Conditions and Work Contacts:
Duties are typically performed in a school clinic and other school settings such as classrooms, gym, cafeteria, and recess areas
Frequent movement throughout the school facilities is required
Occasional lifting of objects up to 20lbs.
Occasional exposure to potentially infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens
