Physical Education Teacher Upper School and Middle School Physical Education

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Teach all levels of middle and upper school physical education, health, and wellness and the possibility of teaching quarter electives.
?Actively contribute to the ongoing design and development of the Upper and Middle School physical education curriculum and in the selection of materials and equipment to support instruction.
Plan and develop quality physical education, health, and wellness lessons.
Establish an environment conducive to student learning and achievement through a supportive and positive climate, using positive motivation.
Collaborate and work cooperatively with all members of the physical education department, administration, US and MS faculty, athletic department and members of The Pembroke Hill community.
Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Participate and provide new ideas during discussions/meetings within the department in order to ensure professional development of the Physical Education program as well as Professional Development for individual teachers.
Maintain, operate and utilize electronic equipment and other physical educational equipment needed to carry out job functions and responsibilities.
Demonstrate the ability to use up-to-date technology resources such as word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, basic spreadsheet/excel knowledge, grading and assessment programs, heart rate monitor technology and any other “new” technology/programs introduced within the school or the department.
Adhere to the physical education department, athletic department and school protocol and policies.
Manage and fulfill all other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree; education-related, physical education, or equivalent experience in education.
2-5 years experience as a coach or PE teacher is preferred.
Ability to coach multiple sports at the middle or upper school level required.
Demonstrated ability with technology skills in computers (email, Microsoft environment), projectors and digital photography.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students.
Demonstrated success with different adolescent needs across grades 6-8.
Exhibits an abiding passion and experience working with a diverse student body.
