Social emotional learning and holistic student well-being are key priorities at Villa Academy. Villa seeks a School Counselor for the 2023-24 school year who is passionate about helping all children develop the social and emotional competencies to persevere through life’s challenges while savoring the good in life. The School Counselor will join the Villa Counseling Team, consisting of one additional full-time school counselor and the Director of the Reinemund Center for Counseling and Wellness. The Villa Counseling Team works with students, parents, and school staff to support the social and emotional development of students in Preschool through 8th Grade.

They are eager to apply their strong interpersonal and group facilitation skills to support Villa Academy in key areas, including addressing student and family issues, behavior challenges, and social and emotional needs. They have a strong knowledge of child and adolescent development, social emotional development, counseling models, and strategies. They thrive in a collaborative, team-centered environment and cultivate positive relationships with all community members. The candidate is an effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with strong attention to detail. Additionally, the candidate will also have a willingness and ability to support students during off campus school activities, recess, and additional non-classroom settings. They will serve with great creativity, positive energy, and cultural humility.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build positive relationships with students, caregivers, faculty and staff
Serve on the schoolwide Social Emotional Learning Team
Partner with teachers in planning, supporting, and delivering social-emotional curriculum
Counsel individuals and groups to address the needs of students
Participate as a member of student support teams to address student needs and develop appropriate accommodation plans
Collaborate with Villa Counseling Team and consult with divisional teams around student needs
Collaboratively plan and execute parent education, serving as a resource for Villa caregivers
Communicate closely with teachers and administrators regarding student and family issues
Partner with community-based child and family services as needed
Maintain appropriate mental health resources for the Villa community
QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited college or university
School counseling license is preferred
Experience in a school setting is preferred
Experience in independent schools is preferred
SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:
Anticipated salary range between $59,000 - $117,000/year, dependent upon qualification and experience.
