Context and Philosophy:
Friends School of Baltimore has an opening for a Part TimeLower School Long Term SubPhysical Education Teacher to begin as soon as possible. Our school believes that all Physical Education community members are responsible for actively organizing games, skill drills, and challenges that promote physical activity among children. Candidates should strive to continue to develop motor skills and physical development among younger students and proper exercise techniques to promote a healthy and active lifestyle. Teach Physical Education cross divisionally from Pre-k to 5th
Escorting children to and from classes.
Writing lesson plans in case of one's absence.
Incorporate motivational strategies to encourage students into an active and healthy lifestyle.
Supporting the development of students' skills, knowledge, and habits of mind as identified in the Teaching and Learning Paradigm.
Collaborating with teachers on their team, within the division.
Organize games and activities to help develop motor skills and physical development
Demonstrate high level of ethical standards of profession.
Attend All-School Professional Days, and Physical Education Faculty meetings,
Help move the initiatives of the School forward by serving on committees; lending expertise and perspective.
Maintaining a current understanding of best practices in the subject areas they teach and have an understanding of the developmental needs of the age group of students in their care.
The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral expression skills, a comfort with exploration and ambiguity, a compassionate heart, and a curious and open mind. The ability to develop teaching strategies and teach multiple grade levels is essential.
Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to understand and incorporate Quaker Principles and Quaker education into their work
Bachelor's of Science Degree in Physical Education or Education, preferred.
Master's degree desired, but not required.
Candidates with experience in independent, public, charter, or parochial schools are encouraged to apply.
