ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will have successful experience working with Early Childhood (Twos - Kindergarten) aged children and their families. They should be flexible, collaborative, proactive, and personable.

Monday through Thursday from 7:45am - 3:15pm and Fridays - 7:45am - 2:45pm.
JOB DESCRIPTION
RN - Healthcare
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide episodic healthcare for students and staff with illness and/or injury during the school day, including responding to emergencies on campus as a first-responder
Administer medications and treatments as indicated and prescribed by a healthcare provider and in accordance with NYS medication guidelines for schools
Utilize clinical judgment in providing case management services.
Update and submit to the school’s website Health Resource Board when necessary or
instructed.
Ensure that all permission forms and doctors’ notes are
received as needed and uploaded into Magnus Health.
Ensure all student vaccinations are received and up to date per NYC/NYS DOH requirements and communicate catch-up schedules to parents as needed
Complete annual state immunization survey and ensure compliance
Administer COVID testing as needed, report results as required by NYS/NYC regulations, and communicate with community members about COVID protocols regarding exposure and positive cases.
Ensure that the health office is in clean, orderly and safe condition with special
attention to confidential information, inventory management, and safe disposal procedures.
Keep and update a binder for substitute nurses.
Inventory all medications and ensure that nothing is expired or recalled.
Provide leadership in promoting health and safety, including a healthy school
environment.
Ensure Health Office and Emergency packs are all up to standard and stocked with
Supplies.
Attend Medical Advisory Committee meetings as requested (often held in the evening).
Collaborate with the school psychologists to assess students physically and emotionally and take appropriate steps to address student health needs.
Health Policies and Records
Maintain log to record information regarding all visits to the nurse’s office via Magnus Health.
Manage school health records via Magnus Health.
Maintain accurate medical records to assure compliance with state and city mandates and
Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH),including immunizations, physical examinations, communicable diseases, and medical conditions.
Create and submit for review timely accident reports.
Ensure compliance with State and Local Governing Agencies.
Handle communications with staff, faculty, parents and others.
Coordinate testing and ensure that PPE supplies are on hand as needed.
Ability to:
Exercise professional judgment in making decisions.
Provide nursing treatment with compassion and culturally sensitive care
Demonstrate a genuine interest in the student population and its health needs.
Demonstrate sensitivity, good judgment and confidentiality in working with students, faculty, and parents.
Communicate appropriately and effectively with students, parents, administrators, faculty, and other school personnel.
Remain calm and courteous under pressure
QUALIFICATIONS
Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of New York
Current BLS certification
Mandated Reporter Training a plus
Infection Control Certification a plus
Experience in school, pediatric, or public health nursing a plus.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary ranges from $70,000-$85,000.
Generous paid time off (e.g., sick and personal days, holidays, school breaks).
All staff must be fully vaccinated, including booster shots. Proof of vaccination required at the start of employment.
