First Baptist Academy, serving students infant through eighth grade, is seeking a Physical Education Teacher. This teacher will also need to be able to coach certain middle school sports as needed per season. Girl sports are Cross Country, Volleyball, Cheer, Basketball, Track & Field and Golf. Boy sports are Cross Country, Football, Basketball, Soccer, Track & Field and Golf. This position reports to the Athletic Director.

Key responsibilities include:
Curriculum planning as well as developing lesson plans
Working closely with classroom teachers to help students gain greater
understanding of material
Teach a few health or fitness related sessions in lower school classrooms
Actively pursuing professional development in coaching and teaching movement skills
Teaching PreK-8th grade PE classes
Assists administration by being observant and supervisory at all times to care for the safety of students, their good conduct and well-being of buildings and equipment.
Attend Faculty meetings Respond to directions of the Athletic Director and other personnel with delegated authority.
Actively engage in student life
Adheres to the Faculty and Staff Handbook
Develop effective lesson plans to teach physical education appropriate to the age or grade level
Teach cognitive concepts about motor skills and fitness
Observe and inform students of corrective measures necessary for skill and improvement
Instruct students on importance of regular amounts of appropriate
physical activity now and throughout life
Assess the skill level of students and provide differentiated instruction for various
ability groupings
Offer alternatives during classes to accommodate different levels of fitness
Explain and enforce safety rules governing sports, recreational activities, and the use of sports and exercise equipment
Maintain order among students
Document attendance, grades and other records
Confer with parents or guardians, teacher and administrators to report on students’ progress
CDL License preferred or willing to obtain
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school
TEA certified for Physical Education EC-8 (or willingness to attain certification)
Excellent Christian character
Excellent interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work in a highly collaborative and rigorous environment.
