Position Description
Saint Mary’s Hall is seeking a passionate, energetic Head Men’s Soccer Coach who strives to build a highly competitive and challenging program for the SMH student-athletes while supporting the school’s mission. Saint Mary’s Hall is committed to offering a rewarding experience for the students while maintaining high academic standards. A SMH coach is an individual who seeks excellence on a daily basis while teaching life skills that will benefit the student-athletes within the program for many years to come.
Responsibilities
- Teach a full-time teaching load of physical education classes.
- Support the efforts of vertical team planning and curriculum alignment and work with the Physical Education Coordinator in providing an age appropriate and challenging PE curriculum and organizing special events.
- Work with the Athletic Director/PE coordinator in performing any additional daily duties in preparation for any PE classes, setting up for games and/or tournaments, and any other lower school duties as assigned.
- Participate in professional development activities and display a growth mindset.
- Work with the Director of Soccer to oversee the entire boys’ soccer program in forms 1 through 12.
- Work with the Athletic Director and Director of Soccer to schedule games and tournaments for the upper school teams.
- Work in coordination with the Athletic Director and Director of Soccer in the hiring of assistants and lower level coaches.
- Develop a culture for the sport and ensure continuity from the lower levels through the Upper School program.
- Work with the athletic department to provide opportunities for instruction and skill development for Lower School students.
- Develop an off-season program, camps and clinics to promote the sport within the school and surrounding community.
- Act as a positive role model in all settings and foster an environment of respect, integrity and responsibility.
- Help maintain high standards of sportsmanship and fair play in all facets of the athletic program.
- Exemplify a sense of professionalism at all times which includes game and practice times, with opponents, parents, faculty, staff and administration.
- Encourage participation and interest in volleyball within the student body.
Qualifications
- Head Varsity coaching experience is preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate flexibility, and work autonomously and as part of a team to achieve departmental goals
- A leader with extraordinarily high expectations of her/himself and the ability to inspire and motivate others
- Well-developed interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a wide range of constituents

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- May require travel to various events to include overnight trips
- May occasionally work nights or weekends
- Works mostly in a temperature-controlled office setting with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements
- May involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying materials less than 50 lbs.
- Operates various types of office equipment
- Work in a rigorous academic environment dealing with a wide variety of physical and intellectual challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
