Roycemore School seeks a full-time School Social Worker for the 2022-2023 school year. Now in its 106th year, Roycemore is a highly regarded, co-educational independent school for students from 3 years old through 12th grade. Located in Evanston, Illinois, on the north side of Chicago, Roycemore enjoys a long-standing relationship with Northwestern University.
The role of the School Social Worker is to enable students to achieve to their fullest potential academically by assisting students to develop coping skills, increase self-esteem, improve interactive skills, and facilitate environmental changes that will enable successful functioning within the learning setting. The Social Worker also provides crisis intervention as well as individual and group intervention services supporting mental health issues for students, as well as their community and family.

Collaborate with Head of School, Assistant Head of School, and Division Heads on restorative justice and SEL topics to support teachers and students
Advise and coach teachers and staff in regards to each child’s individual therapeutic needs, the psychosocial curriculum and psychosocial clinical best practices; collaborate with other clinicians on students’ teams to determine best approach for each student
Facilitate parent meetings about student needs/ topics of mental health/ developmental transitions
Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to incorporate an understanding of family background and cultural diversity when implementing interventions
Observe students with diverse learning/ emotional/ behavioral needs to help with identifying accommodations and interventions in the classroom
Support teachers in creating and implementing positive guidance plans for student behavioral support
Participate in the socio-emotional assessment of students, and intervene in peer relational dynamics in the classroom environment as needed
Design and lead social groups
Write socio-emotional behavioral intervention progress reports for possible consideration for public school IEP/504, as needed
Provide support during family transitions (health, divorce, separation, death)
Consult with parents/ guardians and outside providers
Maintain appropriate records
Work in coordination with school personnel and parents to develop appropriate programming for students
Attend student team conferences and division meetings as needed to discuss a student’s socio-emotional needs and to provide recommendations
Connect students and their families with outside community and educational resources, as needed
Ensure all services are performed in accordance with state laws and regulations, and ethical mandates of the mental health profession
Perform other social work duties/ responsibilities required by the program and within the scope of maintaining licensure and/ or certification
Maintains and expands expertise in subject matter through professional development
Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School
