Job Summary: Â Â Â Â Â Â The Physical Education, Health, and Wellness Department (PEHW) are responsible for the Physical Education, Health, and Wellness education of students in grades K-11. Physical Education teachers foster an environment that promotes and develop an understanding of the relationship between healthy body function and exercise; motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness, and appropriate social and emotional adjustment; discover and develop talents of students in physical achievement; and develop strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each studentâ™s ability. All teachers are expected to perform in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and are expected to work the required days as stipulated in that agreement.
The anticipated start date for this position is 9/1/2022.
Instruct students in physical education at the Historic Campus (grades 3-11).
Interact and collaborate with faculty members, administration, and parents on a daily basis.
Teachers are responsible for developing curriculum, supervising students both in and out of the classroom.
Maintain up-to-date teaching techniques to provide students with a quality educational experience.Â
Build deep relationships with students, families, other faculty and staff to communicate about student progress and to foster a culture of the community.Â
Quickly adapt to changing circumstances and be flexible in work with students.
Interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, and parents required.
Knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion issues, and dynamics in the classroom and in developing healthy, supportive relationships with all students.
Strong knowledge of course subject matter required.

Education, Experience, or Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in education, or related field required.
Master's degree preferred.
Coursework or degree that reflects multicultural content preferred.Â
Experience:Â Â Â Â Â Â
Teaching experience required.
Teaching K-12 physical education experience with a focus on 3rd - 5th grades preferred.
Experience working with a wide range of students from diverse backgrounds such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, learning abilities, class, language, and nationality.Â
Licenses and Certifications:
K-12 PE certification preferred.
American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid training preferred.
Technical Knowledge or Skills:
Use standard productivity software (Microsoft Office, calendar/schedule software, etc.) required.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Move in and around the classroom/building to interact with students, faculty, staff, parents, and other members of the community.
Move class-related equipment/tools, as appropriate, around school property.
When appropriate, escort children from one classroom to another, in and out of the building during arrival and dismissal, and in an emergency situation.
Demonstrate lessons, when appropriate.
