Princeton International School of Math and Science is an independent, international, co-educational boarding school focused on STEM education for students in grades 9 through 12. The school nurse will be the campus leader for all health-related matters and will advise the administration and Board about best practices in managing campus-wide health-related issues. Providing individualized, professional nursing services to students and staff while demonstrating cultural competence and a recognition of the diversity in culture and beliefs
Assuring the school’s Student Health Records are in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws governing independent schools
Managing student health records, administering medication, providing emergency services and other related issues
Creating, disseminating and compiling all forms necessary to assure efficient and effective operations of Student Health Services
Monitoring students who become ill and being the lead communicator with parents for such students
Communicating with parents and staff about health practices, records, immunizations and the like
Providing training for students and staff in policies, practices and procedures related to student and community health
Communicate effectively with the school doctor
Developing emergency health plans, as necessary
Updating annually all records as required by local, state, and federal law
Taking ill students to hospital, as necessary
Ensuring compliance with established procedures and protocols, including the relevant COVID-19 guidelines
Advising the Administrative Team regarding decisions when it comes to the health and safety of students, faculty and staff.
Performing duties as related to pandemic management including but not limited to performing on-site testing for staff and students as needed, updating health protocols to reflect most recent guidance from the health authorities, communicating positive cases to the local health department, educating students, staff and families about risk mitigation
Applicants should be qualified in preventive health, health assessment, and referral procedures. Additionally, successful candidates must possess the ability to guide families with wisdom, warmth, and intelligence, and the ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, parents, and students and will hold high professional standards. The nurse will understand that the role involves providing both comfort and medical intervention for students and employees. Candidates who ideally have experience in independent schools, can communicate fluently in both Chinese and English, and understand and are sympathetic to cultural differences within a school community are highly desirable.
