Gesher Jewish Day School seeks a full time Registered Nurse to join our team for 2021-2022 school year
We are seeking a caring, thoughtful and knowledgeable School Nurse with strong organizational and communication skills. The role of the school nurse involves many varied tasks. The nurse is responsible for the health and safety of the students, faculty and staff. Duties are included but not limited to:
Provide emergency care to students for accidents and illness during school hours
Maintain detailed student health records- regarding clinic visits, ongoing medical needs of students, entrance documentation including immunization records
Ensures all federal, state and local health requirements are met for the Gesher community.
Works closely with the Head of School to create or refine policies regarding school health and safety
Acts as a resource to faculty/ staff regarding health education, infection control
Qualified candidates should possess the following education and experience:
Graduate from an accredited nursing program
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia and in good standing with the Virginia Board of Nursing
Bachelor of Nursing Degree and experience with pediatrics strongly preferred
Active Basic Life Support BLS CPR/AED for Healthcare Providers certification with hands on training required
Minimum of three years clinical experience required, with at least one year of experience in a pediatric, public health or school setting preferred
Able to exchange accurate information in situations with parent, students and other health professionals
Ability to demonstrate good judgement and make quick decisions
High degree of discretion and confidentiality, as necessary and appropriate.
Proficiency in Google Suite (docs, sheets, etc) strongly preferred
Position is a 10-month, FTE with benefits and reports to the Head of School and Principal.
