St. John’s College High School is seeking a full-time School Counselor to begin in August of 2021. This individual will be responsible for supporting students in their academic, emotional and social development.
Develop relationships with students by initiating meetings and observing their academic, social, and emotional needs.
Conduct group meetings and seminars with students that will serve to support their understanding of the academic and other resources available.
Take the lead with crisis management and support and act as a case manager for check-ins
Communicate with parents/guardians when necessary to support student progress
Communicate with faculty about student needs and progress
Work as part of a collegial and collaborative team of seven counselors across four grades
Assist with the proctoring of ACT, SAT, and PSAT exams for students and assist students in their understanding of the testing process
Remain committed to professional growth and development as set forth by the American School Counselor Association.
A desire to connect with students and develop a relationship based on empathy and compassion
An advanced degree in counseling is required
Experience working with students in a school counseling capacity preferred
Willingness to contribute to a school community rooted in Lasallian, Catholic values
Knowledge of learning differences, familiarity with reading psycho-educational testing
