St. John’s College High School is seeking a full-time School Counselor to begin in August of 2021. This individual will be responsible for supporting students in their academic, emotional and social development.

Responsibilities Include:

• Develop relationships with students by initiating meetings and observing their academic, social, and emotional needs.
• Conduct group meetings and seminars with students that will serve to support their understanding of the academic and other resources available.
• Take the lead with crisis management and support and act as a case manager for check-ins
• Communicate with parents/guardians when necessary to support student progress
• Communicate with faculty about student needs and progress
• Work as part of a collegial and collaborative team of seven counselors across four grades
• Assist with the proctoring of ACT, SAT, and PSAT exams for students and assist students in their understanding of the testing process
• Remain committed to professional growth and development as set forth by the American School Counselor Association.

Candidate Qualifications:

• A desire to connect with students and develop a relationship based on empathy and compassion
• An advanced degree in counseling is required
• Experience working with students in a school counseling capacity preferred
• Willingness to contribute to a school community rooted in Lasallian, Catholic values
• Knowledge of learning differences, familiarity with reading psycho-educational testing
