Cedar River Montessori School
Cedar River Montessori School in Renton, WA, is seeking a School Counselor who will work closely with our school community to support students in understanding their social, emotional, and behavioral health as they grow and develop into confident and compassionate young people. This position will create and implement counseling programs and parent education, and will work with faculty to provide services that promote the social and emotional well-being of students according to their developmental needs from preschool through 8th grade. Spring or summer 2021 start date. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in related field is required - Master’s degree preferred (Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology, Social Work, School Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy) Strong written and oral communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues Strong organizational ability in an environment where priorities often change Strong decision-making skills to respond to risk management, emergencies, or difficult situations Ability to develop and coordinate student support plans with parents, faculty, administration, and outside professionals Experience working with children age 3-14 in a school setting Desired Experience/Training: Montessori experience as a teacher, parent, or student Desired Behavioral Traits and Attitudes: Leader, collaborator, passionate, organized, flexible, creative, resourceful, critical thinker, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. Additional Salary Information: This position is 30-40 hours/week, throughout the academic year and summer (12 months). Salary is negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience. Excellent medical, dental, and vision benefits. Matching retirement, paid professional development, up to eight accrued wellness days each year, four weeks paid vacation during the school year (designated school breaks), and an additional two weeks paid vacation after one year employment.
