College & School Counselor: Full-Time Maternity Leave Coverage

Saint Joseph Prep, a Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory high school sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, seeks a full-time maternity leave College & School Counselor for the remainder of the school year. The College and School Counselor works closely with faculty, advisors, students and parents as well as other members of a Student of Concern Team and will report to Co-Head of School Kathy McCarvill.

This individual will maintain a caseload of (approx. 100 students) students in grades 9 - 12, participate in grade-level meetings, manage student concerns that arise, and assist in scheduling meetings. The candidate should have experience working in a school/guidance office setting with high school students. Experience with scheduling, PowerSchool and Naviance preferred

As a valued resource within the community, the successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and advocacy skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of a broad range of colleges and their admission trends. 

Essential Job Functions Include;

• Advise students and parents about standardized testing, course selection, college essays and applications and on post-secondary education planning
• Support students and their families in completing scholarship and financial aid applications; assist in scheduling meetings with admissions counselors;  
• Collaborate with students, parents/guardians, teachers and academic advisors to support students with their academic and social/emotional needs
