JOB OVERVIEW 

Villa Academy is seeking a school counselor to join our dynamic preschool through eighth grade faculty. The school counselor works with students, parents, and school staff to support the social and emotional development of students in Preschool through 8th Grade. Villa boasts a 30-acre campus with trails to the waterfront, a garden, and a greenhouse. Faculty and staff enjoy professional development support, opportunities for emerging leaders, and the chance to shape and grow our dynamic program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

• Master’s degree in school counseling or psychology from an accredited college or university.
• Experience in a school counseling setting is preferred.
• Background or experience in faith-based schools preferred.

• A willingness and ability to support students during off campus school activities, recess and additional non-classroom settings;
• Ability to perform the job responsibilities of this position.

KEY DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Build positive relationships with students
• Assist with social-emotional classroom instruction of the Second Step and Purposeful People programs, in partnership with teachers
• Counsel individuals and groups to address the needs of students
• Participate as member of lower and middle student support teams to address student needs and develop appropriate accommodation plans
• Collaborate with the middle school counselor and as needed consult with the middle school team around student needs
• Assist with parent education and serve as a resource for parents and families
• Communicate closely with teachers and administrators regarding student and family issues
• Maintain appropriate resources for the Villa community
