Physical Education Teacher
North Shore Country Day
North Shore Country Day, a progressive, academically rigorous, co-ed, JK-12 independent school in suburban Chicago, seeks a physical education teacher for the 2021-22 academic year.
The incoming teacher will work with students across JK-12 and teach a combination of physical education, health and sports performance classes. North Shore is eager to consider applications from groups traditionally underrepresented in independent school communities.
While a bachelor’s degree is required, a master’s degree in education is preferred.
Candidates should have two or more years of teaching experience, a grounding in the functional philosophy, and the ability to coach one or more seasons of sports offered by the school. Ideal candidates will have a track record of being passionate advocates for their students, effective classroom managers, and cultivators of the “growth mindset.” They must also demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, a commitment to being a collaborative, valued colleague and a history of engaging in opportunities to support their ongoing professional development.
Candidates are asked to submit a cover letter specific to the role at NSCD, a resume, a written statement detailing their philosophy/approach to their work and a listing of professional references.
Applications should be submitted electronically at https://www.nscds.org/about/employment.
NSCD offers competitive salaries that are commensurate with experience. Additionally, North Shore provides an excellent employee benefits program, including health and retirement benefits, tuition support for children’s attendance at North Shore, and professional development funding to support summer study, attendance at conferences/workshops, travel and advanced degree work. For more information about North Shore Country Day and the opportunities available for members of our faculty, please go to https://www.nscds.org/about/employment.
