Léman Manhattan Preparatory School seeks an Early Childhood and Lower School Nurse for a Maternity Leave replacement (May 3rd – November 5th). This position will cover the remainder of the 2020-21 SY, Summer Camp, and the beginning of the following school year through November 5th. The Early Childhood and Lower School Nurse must have knowledge of school health programs and requirements such as immunization, medication administration, documentation, and protection of confidentiality of protected health information and records. The nurse must have the ability to work cooperatively with school personnel, including students, faculty, parents, health care professionals and community agencies. The Early Childhood and Lower School Nurse is responsible for: - Demonstrating knowledge and understanding of current state and city COVID-19 policies as they pertain to the school environment and a commitment to participating in required training and seminars to stay updated.
- Providing clear guidance to students, families, and staff members regarding management and follow up for symptoms of COVID-19
- Advising school leadership, staff, and the community regarding quarantine and isolation requirements following positive cases, exposure to individuals testing positive, or travel
- Conducting daily health screenings for all students upon school entry
- Provide direct care during the school day to students from PK through Grade 5 for injuries and acute illness
- Experience with monitoring children on a continuous insulin infusion pump and/or long-term management of students with special health care needs
- Conduct lice checks as needed
- Collaborate closely with administration and participate in the Student Support Team (SST)
- Communicate clearly and proactively with parents, faculty and staff on student illnesses
- Adhere to and promote all school health policies
- Facilitate New York State mandated immunization and communicable disease control requirements
- Serve as a health resource and educator in the health instruction curriculum
- Demonstrated initiative, leadership, organization and decision-making skills, coupled with objectivity and good professional judgment in stressful situations
- Proficiency in basic computer operation, including electronic health records management office software, online research and database operation, Magnus software experience a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
