Position Summary

The Substitute Nurse plays an integral role on campus by maintaining the health/well-being of all students through a variety of means, including, but not limited to health screenings, providing first aid/resources and training to community members.  This position will also maintain health records for students and assist faculty/staff with their general health needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to, the following)   

• Provide exceptional care to students in the Health Center and on campus
• Communicate directly with PRS Nurses regarding health questions and concerns
• Communication with parents regarding health questions and concerns
• Maintain on-going, accurate, and confidential records using Magnus Health and other platforms as appropriate
• Process all medical forms and paperwork on Magnus Health in preparation for the start of school and as necessary throughout the year
• Maintain medication protocol to safely store, administer, document and monitor medication given at school.
• Assist in maintaining immunization records and ensure compliance with local and state regulations
• Coordinate maintenance of concussion records with Athletic Trainer
• Support Global Travel program by preparing medical records/forms, medical kits, and providing a report of pertinent medical concerns to trip chaperones
• Support orientations and field trips by preparing materials necessary for off-campus travel, including appropriate medications and medical records 
• Maintain on-campus medical devices, including AEDs and Epi-Pens
• Provide training to faculty and staff on appropriate health and safety topics and medical emergency procedures as needed
• Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others.
• Other duties as assigned in partnership with the Dean of Studies & Student Life, Head of School or designee

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in California
• High school diploma or GED; BSN/MSN preferred
• Current CPR/First Aid Certification
• Experience working with students in a primary school (K-12) preferred
• Strong communication (verbal and written) skills with all community members (students to adults)
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Mac OS (Apple) and MS Office/G Suite
• Experience with Magnus, Veracross or other similar database management system
• Ability to work independently and as a flexible, productive team member

Work Hours

• Part-Time/Per Diem (as needed)
• Ability to partial and work full days (7:30AM-4:00PM)
