Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Health Educator III for the Rutgers Center for Advancing Research & Evaluation for Patient-Centered Care at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The goal of the Rutgers Center for Advancing Research and Evaluation for Patient-Centered Care (CAREPCC) is to unite those whose mission is to improve patient outcomes and experiences, and to take root within the institutional structure as a means of continuous evaluation and learning within our healthcare organization. CAREPCC strives to better enable patients across health systems to make informed decisions and play a role in their own care. Under the guidance of the Director and Executive Director, this position assists in the conduct of health education, behavioral and social science research, and evaluation for specialized COVID-19 testing projects.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Individually and/or with a team, plans, creates, and develops health education topic outlines and curriculums, incorporating various learning techniques and formats (i.e., group discussion, lectures, role-play, etc.) for diverse populations.
Reviews and assists in determining the linguistic and cultural appropriateness of materials, teaching aids, activities, methods, strategies, programs, etc.
Review the efficacy of materials and programs and provides positive, action oriented feedback.
Assists with the translation and/or revisions of translated materials as appropriate.
Contributes to the production and distribution of visually appealing, culturally and literacy appropriate educational programs (i.e. content for brochures, e newsletters, program development, event materials, info graphics), media press releases, and other communications/marketing materials.
Works in conjunction with community organizations to execute health education programs, provides informational materials and facilitates health education sessions to stakeholders.
Serves as a point of contact in area of expertise; refers community to available support services, such as medical services, social services, etc. as appropriate. Serves as a resource to assist individuals, other health care workers or the community. Represents the program on internal/external committees and boards.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in public health, social or behavioral science plus two (2) years of related community education experience or a Master’s Degree plus one (1) year of experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Effective verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work well within a team.
Excellent computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) necessary.
Demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and apply acquired knowledge to new situations.
Exhibit flexibility to change as appropriate.
Certified Health Education Specialist credentials and experience in community advocacy, community health and social service navigation.
Experience with social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram are desired.
Bilingual written and verbal proficiency (Spanish and English).
