The Employee Occupational Health and Safety RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of professional nursing care/interventions provided to all assigned populations including Fairview workers, candidates, providers and other workers. The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure and professional practice guidelines. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate. The autonomous practitioner is accountable for their own practice, current knowledge, and competence; the RN has authority to control decisions affecting nursing care. As workers compensation case manager the RN liaises with internal Risk Management claims team and external QRC consultants and ensures timely submittal of accurate data.
The Occupational Health nurse has primary responsibility for care and services during clinic hours. This is a casual position to fill in needs to support our team & our internal customer base.
Actively participates in creating and implementing safety improvements that are designed to protect workers from potentially hazardous work conditions.
Provides employee occupational health services. Evaluates and facilitates appropriate medical care for injured/ill employees that improves quality and cost effectiveness of both healthcare and employee return to work.
Collaborates with Employee Health and Safety team to implement and coordinate Injury Prevention programs, Ergonomics, Respirator Protection program, annual Influenza campaign and the Safety Committees.
Acts as Return-to-Work care manager for occupational and non-occupational cases. Coordinates case management process. Communicates and coordinates case management activity with injured employee and appropriate individuals such as: supervisor/manager, Human Resources Business Partners, third party administrator, QRC, physician, etc.
Participates in the HealthEast/Fairview Infection Control Program as it applies to employees; including Blood borne Pathogens and Tuberculosis prevention.
Creates and implements training on a variety of topics related to safety within the work place.
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevantlaws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned.
Minimum AD two year college nursing degree
Current MN RN licensure and CPR certification
Minimum two years work experience in occupational health nursing or in an area of nursing requiring independent nursing skills (i.e.: ER nursing, college health/school nursing, etc.)
Minimum computer skills must be sufficient to efficiently work with email, on-line charging, various on-line systems, etc.
BSN four year college nursing degree
Current certification as COHN-S or COHN
RN with experience or a broad understanding of hospital EOHS processes and infection prevention practices
