Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K-12 on a 125-acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton Academy seeks a full-time Physical Education Teacher for grades 6-8 committed to inclusive, multicultural teaching and practice for the 2020-2021 academic year. We are looking for teachers who have a passion for working with the middle school age group. A successful candidate will articulate the athletic department’s mission to develop students’ physical, intellectual, and emotional growth, and foster the values of physical strength and competence, teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong health and fitness.
A bachelor’s degree is required and a concentration in physical education is preferred. A minimum of three years of teaching and coaching experience at the middle or secondary level is required. Experience teaching all or most of the following is preferred: physical education, fitness concepts, Red Cross CPR, and Standard First Aid. The successful candidate will be expected to coach for all three seasons. Teacher certification is not required.
A preferred candidate would also be able to serve as a middle school resource providing classroom coverage and learning support across grades 6-8 as needed.
