ABOUT THE JOB
FSLA Status: Part-time, Exempt (1 to 3 days a week)
Reports To: Director of Administrative Services
Start Date: August 31, 2020

Nurse Expectations & Responsibilities
Provide health services in the school.
Treat student injuries and/or illnesses.
Advise and provide guidance for students, their parents or guardians, and professiona staff on health issues.
Provide support for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities including administering medication e.g. insulin injections)
Administer medication to students (e.g. over-the-counter, prescription, etc)
Promote health-related habits and proper hygiene.
Teach and participate in classes on health with students.
Conduct screenings and writing referrals for health services.
Developing and monitoring health plans for students.
Managing the school health system (MagnusHealth). Tracking and reviewing student health forms and requirements.
Inventory and ordering of equipment and materials in the health office.
Communicate and updates to parents and professional staff.
Participate and attend in faculty meetings and committees as needed by the school.
Participate in the life of the school, including attendance at required events: faculty meetings, curriculum night, parent conferences, grade-level cocktail party, Christmas Fair, Spring Benefit, and school games and events.
Be present at the school during the required work hours.
Spend time sitting in an office throughout the day.
Be exposed to children who are ill.
Flexibility and willingness to have your day interrupted in order to support the health needs of students.
Contact and communication with students, faculty/staff, parents, and vendors on a regular basis. Contact and communication consists of face-to-face discussions, e-mail, phone calls, letters, and memos.
Time Management: ability to manage own time and time of others in order to meet expectations and deadlines.
Commitment to timeliness, efficiency, and excellence in all work produced and projects/tasks managed.
Knowledge & Skills
Tools & Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and MagnusHealth or similar system.
Customer Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services.
English Language: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Active Learning – Commitment to life-long learning and participation in professional and personal growth.
Active Listening- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Reading Comprehension- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
