Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Princeton, New Jersey, an independent, Catholic all-girls PS-12 Sacred Heart School is searching for an Upper and Middle School Counselor and AP Psychology teacher. The job entails supporting students and aiding in their psychological care and development. The counselor serves as a resource to faculty, administration, and families and guides the school in making decisions about the social-emotional health and wellbeing of the student body. Develop and deliver the school counseling curriculum through appropriate courses within the division
Assist and support students in the areas of emotional and social development
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and parents to better understand and meet the needs of all students
Provide individual and small group counseling as needed
Make appropriate referrals of students and parents to outside agencies and specialists when necessary
Be visible in school by participating in a variety of activities that allows for development of trust and relationships with students
Continually plan, evaluate, and revise the school counseling program
Pursue continuous professional development and growth
Support Stuart's Diversity and Inclusion initiative and serve on the Diversity Committee
Educate and support parents in their rasing of strong and confident young women by hosting parent education events and communicating articles adn critical information,.
Conduct small group counseling sessions in response to identified needs within the school Anxiety, friendships, perfectionism etc...
Work in partnership with other members of the counseling team and student support staff
Arrange and/or provide workshops and assemblies as needed for the school community
Consult with students' mental health professionals to ensure students are being appropriately supported
The successful candidate will have experience supporting girls mental health and wellness in a school setting.
Experience teaching AP Psychology, working in an all-girls school, or experience in independent schools a plus.
The successful candidate will have an appropriate advanced mental health degree and licensure.
This is a ten-month position and reports to the Head of the Upper School and serves on the Student Health and Wellness Team.
