The Physical Education, Health, and Wellness Department (PEHW) are responsible for the Physical Education, Health, and Wellness education of students in grades K-11. Physical Education teachers foster an environment that promotes and develop an understanding of the relationship between healthy body function and exercise; motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness, and appropriate social and emotional adjustment; discover and develop talents of students in physical achievement; and develop strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each studentâ™s ability.Â

All teachers are expected to perform in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and are expected to work the required days as stipulated in that agreement.
Instruct students in physical education at Earl Shapiro Hall (grades K-2), 25%.
Instruct students in physical education at the Historic Campus (grades 6-8) 60%.
Provide supervision for middle school students as assigned by middle school administration.Â
Interact and collaborate with faculty members, administration, and parents on a daily basis.
Teachers are responsible for developing curriculum, supervising students both in and out of the classroom.
Maintain up-to-date teaching techniques to provide students with a quality educational experience.Â
Build deep relationships with students, families, other faculty and staff to communicate about student progress and to foster a culture of the community.Â
The anticipated start date for this position is 9/1/2020.

When appropriate, the ability to escort children from one classroom to another, in and out of the building during arrival and dismissal, and in an emergency situation.
Ability to demonstrate lessons, when appropriate.
Education, Experience, and Certifications: Â

Bachelor's degree in Education, or related field required.
K-8 PE certification preferred.
Master's degree preferred.
Coursework or degree that reflects multicultural content preferred.Â
American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid training preferred.
Experience working with a wide range of students from diverse backgrounds such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, learning abilities, class, language, and nationality.Â
