Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and individual, dual or team sports, utilizing curriculum and other appropriate learning activities. Evaluate learning activities that teach wellness literacy to students.
Work cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning and implementing a balanced physical education program.
Analyze, demonstrate, and explain the basic skills, knowledge and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.
Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials using the Understanding by Design lesson planning framework.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.
Provide appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
Evaluate academic and social growth of students, prepare report cards, and keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.
Maintain control of storage and use of school property necessary in the Middle School program.
Evaluate each student’s growth in physical skills, knowledge and contribution in team sports.
Lead an Advisory group in Middle School
Focus on making learning visible through effective student engagement.
Work cooperatively with other team members to improve the instructional program.
Evaluate and differentiate student progress and adapt individual programs to meet student needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Physical Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education.
Minimum of two years successful teaching experience is preferred.

May work long hours for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to work in varied and extreme weather conditions, including extreme heat.
