The Nightingale-Bamford School seeks a part time (3 / 5 time or 60%) psychologist or social worker with responsibilities primarily in the lower school. The lower school counselor will coordinate with the Director of Counseling and the Head of Lower School to manage support primarily in the lower school division (K-4), but also in the middle and upper divisions as needed. Primary responsibility is for individual counseling and referral for students as appropriate and coordination for support with teachers, administrators, parents and outside professionals. The lower school counselor will also teach and participate in curriculum development for social emotional learning in the division and plan and produce parent education opportunities. The ideal candidate will be experienced and expert at providing psychological support in a diverse and inclusive community.
Individual counseling and referral and outreach to families
Coordinate with student support team to develop plans of support for students in need
Collaborate with homeroom teachers and specialists and other administrators
Collaborate in design and delivery of SEL education and and prevention programs around mental health concerns
Develop parent programming on relevant lower school issues
Support and education for faculty on student psychological concerns
Participation in community activities

Masters or doctoral degree required as well as three years post-graduate school counselor or other clinical and diagnostic experience. Candidates must be New York State licensed or license-eligible.
