September 2016 was the tenth anniversary of BIS-NY and this post arises because of the continued growth and development of the school. The school opened a new Upper School programme from September 2018 offering Cambridge International IGCSE and A Level courses. We are looking for talented, committed and enthusiastic individuals to join our exceptional team of staff and help make BIS-NY even better.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed teacher to join our successful and growing PE Department. The ideal candidate should have experience working with younger ages and be capable of creating dynamic, inclusive lessons that develop fundamental movement skills through a range of activities, with the goal of fostering lasting fitness habits for the students. In addition to lessons and clubs, the school also fields teams across a range of sports including football, rugby, basketball, tennis, swimming and cross country. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to this programme. Sport is already an important and valued aspect of the school and we are excited to welcome a colleague who will help make it an even stronger feature of a BIS-NY education.
Teach across the school age range with a particular focus on Early and Primary Years
Model excellent practice within the department
Work collaboratively with teachers to integrate PE with units of study
Work closely with Head of the Physical Education Department to effectively deliver the PE curriculum across all years.
Promote and deliver co-curricular teams and sport
Have an interest in technical developments across a range of relevant physical activities
Maintain a personal approach that promotes the nature and ethos of PE & Games
Relevant degree and qualifications
Experience teaching primary and/or secondary students
Experience of playing a variety of sports competitively
Excellent communication skills and a willingness to adapt to the demands of an international school
Have the ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload
Ability to work within a team
Well organized with good time management skills
Experience of IB or willingness to learn
