Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (HIES) is seeking a long-term Upper School Counselor substitute. HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish day school in the country, offering a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade. HIES is located north of downtown Atlanta between I-75 and GA 400.
This is an interim position, beginning at or near March 1, 2020 and continuing through May 22, 2020.
Provide individual social/emotional support to students as needed throughout the school day (students may be self-referred or referred by teacher, dean, or parent)
Provide therapeutic referrals to families for students who require or request additional counseling/therapy outside of school
Consult with and maintain communication with parents/caregivers as needed
Consult with and maintain communication with outside therapists and treatment programs/facilities
Identify crisis situations and create appropriate plans and referrals to school and families
Meet bi-weekly with grade level deans, Director of Learning Resources, and Assistant Principal for Students to identify students of concern
Create and implement support plans for students of concern
Consult with teachers as needed to identify best practices for supporting students in the classroom
Attend weekly Administrative Team meetings
Meet weekly with counselors of other divisions
Provide referrals to families to seek evaluation after positive drug screen conducted at school
Educational and Other Requirements
Master’s Degree in School Counseling, MFT, MSW or related degree
Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing and safety training required.
