Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a Lower School Physical Education Teacher for its Lower School for the 2020-21 school year. Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum. Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
The teacher will provide physical education instruction for boys and girls in Calvert’s Lower School. In addition to teaching, the teacher must coach two seasons of sports throughout the school year. Faculty members are also expected to contribute to the Calvert community as club advisors, serve on school committees on occasion, and actively engage in professional growth experiences.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with prior teaching experience and a degree in Physical Education is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in another content area with an advanced degree in physical education or a similar discipline will also be considered. Candidates must be student centered, energetic, engaging with students and have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
