The Berkeley Carroll School is seeking a part-time (two to three days/week) school counselor (MSW, Mental Health Counseling Masters, Psy. D. or Ph.D.), to join the Upper School student support team. This position involves: providing short-term counseling for students; working closely with the other US counselor, Director of Learning Strategies, US Division Director, Dean of Student Life, Grade Deans and Director of Equity and Inclusion; communicating with teachers, parents and outside support providers; and being a resource for student affinity groups. Cultural awareness and the ability to connect effectively with a diverse population are paramount. The ideal candidate will have a background in targeted, short-term counseling of students in grades 9-12 (such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy skills), as well as in crisis intervention when a student is in distress.
