The Lower School Counselor is responsible for providing counseling services for students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. The responsibilities include preventative and responsive services, management of student caseloads, as well as community presentations on a wide range of topics. The counselor will collaborate with the Middle School and Upper School Counselors to provide a comprehensive school counseling program.
The Lower School Counselor must be committed to promoting student success and building relationships with students, faculty, parents and the greater school community, in order to support the overall social and emotional health and well-being of students. Skillful communication skills are essential in this position, as well as a deep capacity to handle difficult conversations and maintain a high standard of confidentiality.
This is a full-time (10 month) exempt position which reports to the Lower School Principal and the Director of Counseling Services.
• Master’s degree or higher in the field of Mental Health or School Counseling.
• Certification and/or License preferred.
• Prior experience working with children, preferably elementary school aged students.
