Annunciation Orthodox School (AOS) is currently seeking a licensed nurse for the position of Part-time School Nurse. This is a position that is designed to cover extended day hours that are not currently covered by the school’s full-time nurse. We are looking for someone who is committed and passionate about having a major positive impact on the school community, and who can work independently and/or alongside the full-time nurse. This person will work with children from Preschool to Grade 8, along with their families, which makes communication and listening skills essential. This person will be responsible for complying with laws and requirements mandated by the local and state health departments.
AOS is looking for a detail-oriented person with good record-keeping and organizational skills. He/she should have the ability to use a computer and a willingness to learn and use various software applications.
The School Nurse should have the ability to stay calm in emergency situations and exercise professional judgment in making decisions. This position requires the ability to work with frequent interruptions.

Start Date: Early November
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm during the school year. These hours are potentially flexible. Interested candidates should include available & desired hours in their cover letter.
Operate as the only nurse on duty during the Extended Day programs.
Administer and document first aid care, medications, and medically prescribed services to students, faculty, and staff as needed
Assist the School’s full-time nurse in maintaining health records on each student, monitoring compliance of the School’s health program with federal, State, and local laws, regulations and policies
Assist the School’s full-time nurse with recording immunizations, health findings, and other relevant health data
Assist the School’s full-time nurse in preparing health audit reports for the School and/or the State health agencies
Assist in managing clinical supplies and equipment
Provide follow-up evaluations on students as required
Correspond with parents on health needs of children
Assist in conducting annual vision, hearing, height, weight, and spinal screening of students in specific grades as designated by the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS), including referrals as needed
Assist the School’s full-time nurse in managing the clinic budget
Enforce school health policies
Other duties as assigned
A valid license to practice nursing in the State of Texas (RN preferable)
Minimum of one year of pediatric or school nursing experience
Current CPR Certification
IDDM experience (Pen and Pump)
Full command, verbal and written of the English language
Certification in vision/hearing screening preferred
Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations regarding school health services
