The division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PCCSM), is comprised of over 31 Faculty, 18 Staff Physicians, 10 VA Faculty, 12 Researchers, 21 Fellows, 8 Post-docs, and 94+ administrative, research and support staff. PCCSM is a dynamic division that changes with the nature and scope of Division and Department of Medicine operations, especially research activities. PCCSM's dynamic nature often necessitates shifting priorities, creating new initiatives, and making changes to personnel and space assignments.
Under general supervision, the Health Educator II will work closely with Vice Chair of Medicine Education and Chief of PCCSM, with responsibilities to support complex projects and division activities. Interact with School of Medicine office and Department Chair's Office, Hospital personnel, third-party providers, and pharmaceutical representatives. Incumbent will provide strategic planning and problem solving. This position requires tact, diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality on a wide variety of complex and highly sensitive issues. Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in a rapidly changing environment.
Incumbent will serve as a key resource; providing analysis and resolution of problems on behalf of the Vice Chair of Medicine Education and Chief of PCCSM. The incumbent also maintains sensitive and confidential information in electronic and paper form and must have the ability to extract, analyze, interpret, and display the data as required. Uses professional health education concepts. Applies campus policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
Bachelor's Degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.
A minimum of two (2+) or more years of experience with health promotion or program coordination in research.
Demonstrated working knowledge of the health promotion and education field, specifically, in the Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep field.
Proven working knowledge of the design and delivery of related programs. Skills associated with both the development and delivery of health education programs and services.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with a variety of personalities at the organization, exercising tact, mature judgement, diplomacy and flexibility to promote positive working relationships and job effectiveness.
Strong knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques. Ability to acquire the requisite skills to analyze, interpret and respond to client needs.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with academic personnel processes.
Effective interpersonal skills needed to work with diverse client group. Skill at negotiating with various personalities and developing internal and external network of contacts.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Strong writing and editing skills to compose, proofread, and to review copy for correct grammar and format, completeness, etc.
