General Job Description: St. Anne’s Episcopal School in Middletown, Delaware seeks a spirited and talented individual who enjoys working with middle school students and has 3-5 years of teaching experience. Our teachers focus on the intellectual, social, physical, artistic, and spiritual growth of each child to create a learning environment where each student is known, loved, challenged, and inspired. In addition to providing health and PE instruction, middle school teachers serve as advisors to grade-level advisory groups of 6-8 students. This position would begin August 19, 2019.
Develop PE and Health curriculum for Middle School grades 5-8 as well as PE curriculum for Lower School grade levels
Commit to teaching all types of movement, including but not limited to traditional sports and games as well as dance and other types of fitness
Be willing to coach two seasons of athletics or lead another MS student group
Demonstrate passion as an educator and possess a comprehensive knowledge of child development
Employ a variety of teaching strategies and resources
Be flexible and collaborative as well as independent and self-motivated
Understand the fundamental developmental stages in the social, emotional, and academic lives of students
Use technology to enhance learning and communicate effectively
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior that are aligned with our core values: respect, responsibility, and compassion
Communicate with parents on student progress
Attend specific school events/activities outside of the school day and supervise as needed
Participate in curriculum development and serve on faculty committees
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff
Attend weekly Episcopal chapel service and other assemblies
