In 1814 Emma Willard School was founded by a woman determined to map uncharted territory, to bring what was unknown to women and make it known, to find new ground, name it and claim it. Emma Hart Willard dared us to look within and see beyond. And in her spirit, we don’t feel bounded by others’ boundaries.
Our goal is to create a program and environment that develops resilience, empathy and a sense of purpose in adolescent girls who grow into women that can shape and shake the world.
