Maintain a current license as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts
Meet or exceed all expectations as outlined in the Massachusetts “Professional Code of Conduct as a Registered Nurse”.
Preferably maintain certification as a First Aid and CPR Instructor, but not mandatory. Assist with training of all faculty members if certification obtained.
Maintain a working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations as they pertain to medications and other health care issues in accordance with 105 CMR 210.000 of the Department of Public Health.
Follow all expectations as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
Provides support and assistance with medical and general emergencies.
Participates in the orientation and training for the teaching and residential staff.
Provides informal counseling to students on an as needed basis and communicates with the necessary personnel including counseling therapists.
Maintains security of medications and health documents
Coordinates personal days off well in advance of need with the Director of Health Services.
Manage the weekend operations of the Medication Administration program:
Prepare medications for dispensing in advance of need
Dispense medications as instructed by students providers
Assure all required documentation is present and completed.
Coordinate all student medications and EPI pens for weekend trips off campus.
Communicate with Personal RX as needed for refills.
Assist the other school nurses as needed, with managing medication refill system assuring adequate levels of all medications are on hand as needed.
Evaluate each student presenting to the health center for illness or injury in a timely manner. Determine and carry out an appropriate plan of treatment:
Inform parents of medical situations that require off-campus treatment before, during, and after treatment.
Coordinate with Administrator on duty needs for student to be transported.
Document all care given to students in the Magnus Health Care Systems
Coordinate end of shift information with the night supervisor.
Coordinate all significant events with the Director of Health Services and / or appropriate administrative personnel.
Assists in assuring all medical forms are present and current for each student.
Assist in running the Tuberculosis Detection program by screening all new faculty upon employment
Willingness and flexibility to meet the needs and daily operations of the health center.
Hours: Saturday & Sunday 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM
29 weekends, regular school session
4 weekends during summer session
Registration days for school year / summer
September staff training week
3 Holidays: Columbus Day, Martin Luther King Day & Memorial Day
